My work focuses on childhood memories, gender construction and ideas related to the experiences of women. The process of printmaking is important because it is through attention to planning, cutting, and printing that I come to understand these relationships. Layers of wallpaper patterns, insects, birds and human anatomy, create a palimpsest in which some images are obscured, while others remain intact.  My current body of work is a series of self-portraits in which I am considering the many changes in my life as I approach middle age and beyond; noticing changes in my body, redefining what home means for me, beginning new relationships, and becoming a grandmother. The raven symbolizes the guide who helps me negotiate this new phase of my life.
